The much-awaited American production will be screened Out of Competition at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
On Wednesday, May 14, Tom Cruise—both star and producer—will take to the iconic steps of the Palais des Festivals alongside his long-time collaborator, director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, and the rest of the cast.
This marks only the third time Cruise has appeared at Cannes. His first visit dates back to 1992 for the premiere of Ron Howard’s Far and Away. He later returned in 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick, an occasion that included a masterclass and a warm reception as he was awarded an honorary Palme d’Or.
In Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, a character he has embodied since the franchise began in 1996. This time, Hunt and his IMF team face one final mission, asking audiences to place their trust in them once more.
Cruise reunites again with Christopher McQuarrie, continuing their long-standing collaboration. The screenplay is co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, with the film produced by Paramount Pictures and Skydance.
After nearly thirty years defined by high-stakes action, daring stunts, and complex plots, The Final Reckoning aims to deliver a powerful and memorable conclusion to the long-running series.
