Ventana Sur confirms dates for its 2026 market edition in Montevideo, Uruguay
Jointly organized by the Marché du Film, ACAU, and INCAA, the 2026 edition of Ventana Sur—the most prominent audiovisual market in Latin America—has been scheduled to take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, between November 30 and December 4

Ventana Sur continues to grow via its "Río de la Plata" model. This structured bridge between Montevideo and Buenos Aires is designed to sustain the market's momentum and solidify connections within Latin America's audiovisual industry.
Following a triumphant debut in Montevideo in 2024 and a return to Buenos Aires in 2025, the capital of Uruguay is set to welcome the market once more. From November 30 to December 4, 2026, the city will host five days of networking, industry meetings, and film screenings. The event will be spread across several of Montevideo's most iconic locations, such as the historic Teatro Solís, the Sodre national cultural center, and the Cinemateca Uruguaya, which will serve as the venue for market screenings.
Launched in 2009, Ventana Sur has grown into Latin America's premier audiovisual market, drawing over 3,000 international experts annually to focus on the financing, co-production, and distribution of regional content. The market champions the growth of the local industry through specialized categories and programs targeting feature films, television series, documentaries, animation, and innovative formats.
The expanding global reach of Ventana Sur was on full display at the 2026 Marché du Film in Cannes. Key highlights included a tailored lineup of events, such as the Ventana Sur Goes to Cannes showcase, where a curated selection of Latin American works-in-progress was presented to distributors, sales agents, and festival programmers. Additionally, the program featured an exclusive panel with top representatives from INCAA and ACAU, a case study analysis, and a networking reception designed to bridge the gap between global and Latin American film professionals.
“Ventana Sur has established itself as the essential destination where the excellence of the Marché du Film converges with the Southern Hemisphere’s summer. As Uruguay prepares to host this market for the second time, we face a formidable new challenge: to deliver an edition that rises to the complexities of today’s global landscape. In this era, fostering meaningful encounters and co-productions is vital to asserting the value of our industry. This event serves as a strategic cornerstone to elevate our local talent and the profound sophistication of our regional cinematographies,” said Gisella Previtali, President of ACAU and Co-Director of Ventana Sur.
“Ventana Sur now plays an essential role in strengthening connections between Latin America and the international industry. The Río de la Plata format allows this momentum to be sustained over time while increasing the visibility of the region’s talents and content,” said Guillaume Esmiol, Executive Director of the Marché du Film and Co-Director of Ventana Sur.
“The Buenos Aires edition of 2025 showed us that Ventana Sur is not only a market — it is a laboratory for the future of Latin American content,” said Ralph Haiek, Executive Director, Ventana Sur Argentina 2025. “VS Tech was at the heart of that, bringing together the creative and technological talent that transforms stories into properties capable of crossing every screen and every border. Building IP that truly reaches audiences is no longer a challenge unique to Hollywood; it is our challenge — and we are meeting it. As we look toward Montevideo 2026, the momentum we built around IP creation and technological innovation will be central to what makes this market indispensable for the region."
The 2026 lineup will include all of Ventana Sur’s core initiatives, such as Primer Corte, Copia Final, Proyecta, VS Docs, VS Shortfilms, VS Guiones, VS Tech, VS Fantastic, and VS Animation. These will run alongside tailored B2B networking events for producers and a comprehensive suite of market services focused on international distribution.
