WeShort at Sundance Film Festival 2023
A new farsighted partnership

After partnerships with Minerva Pictures and Guinness World Records, WeShort announces another important collaboration: the streaming platform focused on short films has become an Associate Partner of the Sundance Institute.
Sharing the goal of enhancing and supporting independent cinema, of which short films are the quintessence, they are inaugurating this new collaboration during the 2023 edition of the Sundance Film Festival. Today, Jan. 23, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm (GMT-7) at The Box at The Ray (1768 Park Ave) WeShort is presenting "New Short Cinema" by WeShort, an official festival panel in which Alex Loprieno, Founder & CEO at WeShort, is going to dialogue with some of the key people from WeShort's different departments such as Andrea Vailati, Sabino Sernia, Paolo Privitera and from the international short film scene such as Sundance Film Festival Senior Short Programmer Mike Plante, about the platform's mission and the future of short films in the entertainment world.
This event marks the beginning of a shared journey between WeShort and the Sundance Institute that will see further appointments and developments throughout the year. WeShort's presence at the festival will be extended with participation in international events and premieres. "This new collaboration with Sundance Institute makes me dream even bigger, I think there is no better outcome than to receive validation on our work from one of the world's benchmarks for those who love and make a living from film.", says Alex Loprieno.
WeShort is the streaming platform dedicated to the world of short films and series, available worldwide and on all iOS and Android web and mobile devices. Founded in late 2020, the platform aims to highlight the thousands of short films and series from around the world, connecting independent productions, young filmmakers and emerging film cultures but also short films awarded at the most prestigious festivals, such as "Oscars" and "Cannes Film Festival", and the world premiere of the Guinness World Records short series. With a catalog of over a thousand short films, to date the platform has active users from 152 countries around the world.
With this event at Sundance, WeShort is preparing to enter the American market. Then again, the "New Short Cinema" by WeShort event is powered by Events.com, a U.S. company on the rise in the world of live and online events. During the panel, WeShort will present "Caramelle" the first WeShort Originals production, a 3D animated short film that was a great success with audiences and critics in its world premiere, winning the Audience Award - Best Short Film at Alice nella Città as part of the Rome Film Festival 2022.
The partnership with the Sundance Institute thus marks another significant milestone in terms of the growth and affirmation on the global market of WeShort, which currently boasts a catalog of over a thousand short films from 40 countries around the world, in as many as 15 languages. A WeShort section is present in several countries on TCL's SmartTVs and on the catalog of the Chili platform, a European digital entertainment reality. WeShort has also established collaborations with major companies from different sectors besides audiovisual, such as Best Western and Aeroporti di Roma.
