Directors' Fortnight 2026 Selection and a Special Screening

Red Rocks by Bruno Dumont

Under the pastoral and contemplative influence of Alain Guiraudie, the 58th edition of the Directors’ Fortnight is presented as a curated program featuring 19 feature films and 9 short films.

The selection brings together works from 19 countries across five continents, including contributions from nations that are rarely represented on the international stage, such as Nigeria, Sudan, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Cyprus.

A defining element of this edition is the strong presence of both documentary and animated cinema, with three feature-length and two short films in each category, highlighting the diversity and creative vitality of these forms.

The 2026 lineup combines established filmmakers with emerging talents, including several debut features, as well as directors whose artistic voices are still evolving.

The program also includes special events. Among them is the premiere of a new film by Alain Cavalier, a filmmaker closely tied to the early history of the Fortnight and known for championing new talent; this presentation marks the final chapter of his filmed diary. In addition, the section features a special screening of Red Rocks by Bruno Dumont, followed by a masterclass with the filmmaker.

Overall, the edition is conceived as an invitation to embark on a cinematic journey that spans cultures, perspectives, and creative approaches from around the world.
